Portland Japanese Garden

This place has become a trendy tourist spot for tourists who visit the city. It is located in Oregon, in Portland, with 5.5 hectares of land belonging to the Washington Park. It is known for being one of the most majestic and beautiful gardens in the country.

A curious fact that the creation of this complete and oriental Japanese garden took much less time to build, others take years to complete. You’ll want to move carefully as you make your way through the five different areas of the Portland Japanese Garden. Beauty is often found in the small details rather than in bold statements; this garden is worth setting aside a couple of hours to explore.

The first is composed of a beautiful garden, which has the largest area in the park. It is accompanied by a pond, next to a hilly path, adorned with a lantern, decorating stones from Hokkaido Island and other types of rocks. They are surrounding this area.

The floor of this garden is composed of white sand that means water and contrasts with the green moss, sand and stones of this garden are also added rocks made of ascending sand representing the ocean. There is also a great variety of ponds in the area, beautiful waterfalls and small rivers. All species of shrubs, large trees and small ferns are native to Japan; there is a Ksitigarbha protector of the indigenous after Buddha.

The decoration of this famous garden was at the hands of Professor Takuma Tono at the beginning of the year 1963; this opened its doors to the public two years later in 1967. It was winning the second place among the Japanese gardens built outside of Japan.

The garden entrance can be found at the main entrance of Washington Park, at the top of the well-known Park Place; this park is reached in about 25 minutes, leaving the Portland airport.

The best time to visit this beautiful place will depend on the season of the year. In spring, the fresh green of the year stands out along with a different type of flower. In the summer, the green becomes a little brighter, illuminated by sunlight, giving calm. In autumn, the colors of its typical colors attract tourists and visitors to the city. But without a doubt, the favorite season is the one that returns when winter arrives.
